There are two elections taking place for Railroad Commissioner. One is for the unexpired term of Michael Williams and the other is for the Republican nomination to face Democrat Dale Henry in November.
Seeking to replace Michael Williams are Al Lee of Dallas, Elizabeth Murray-Kolb of Seguin, Greg Parker of Seguin, and Barry Smitherman of Houston.
After careful review of the credentials and issue positions of these four candidates, The Rowlett Reporter recommends Mr. Greg Parker for the unexpired term as Texas Railroad Commissioner. Mr. Parker brings the right balance of industry knowledge, the desire to protect the state’s authority over its natural resources, and the need to protect the rights of land owners as we venture into a potential energy boom right in our back yards.
Seeking to fill the shoes of Elizabeth Ames-Jones are Becky Berger, Beryl Burgess, Warren Chisum, Joe Cotton, Christi Craddick, and Roland Sledge.
After careful review of the credentials and issue positions of these four candidates, The Rowlett Reporter recommends Mr. Roland Sledge for the Republican nomination for Texas Railroad Commissioner. Roland Sledge does not bring the depth of political baggage to the office that would accompany Mrs. Craddick and Mr. Chisum, but he does bring a seriousness and experience to the job that the Mrs. Berger, Mr. Burgess, and Mr. Cotten do not.
